Sandwiches and Wraps: No Bread No Problem | Koyabell Fitness

Anyone else feel like they could eat everything after swinging bell? I do.

A certain recipe has been floating around my Facebook circles the last few days.
It’s that cucumber turkey sub sandwich, with the cucumbers used as the bread trencher.

I think this is an amazing idea. Not only do I love sandwiches and wraps, they are really handy for my on-the-go lifestyle. Thing is, bread adds up fast for those of us with training goals. But it’s so yummy and convenient!!!

I looked up some bread alternatives that are more along the lines of vegetables, not gluten free bread type stuff. Yuck. I don’t know how people eat that stuff.
My favourite alternatives are as follows:

Portobello Mushroom Caps
Rice Paper
Lettuce or Collard Greens
Cucumber Boats
Bell Pepper Sandwich Slices
Tomato Slices

And I want to try tempeh “bread”, and sweet potato buns. Sounds interesting…
Oh and carrot-oatmeal pancakes! Pancakes are totally just squished floppy buns.

Most of these would meet the Koyabell recommendations for low to no gluten, and high fiber with complex carbohydrates.

Personal fitness update:

Busy busy. Did really well last week with increasing my workout hours from 3 to 5/6 per week.
I’m not eating well though. Thinking it’s time to go back to more structured eating. I do best with this strategy.
